AMPLIFIER/DISCRIMINATOR SOCKET ASSEMBLIES - Discontinued
The Option 14 series of Products for Research photomultiplier tube socket assemblies incorporates a built-in photon counting amplifier discriminator module. These socket assemblies are directly interchangeable with standard socket assemblies used in all shielded, cooled housings for 1 inch diameter and 2 inch diameter or larger photomultipliers, as well as the uncooled PR2200CE and PR1400CE for 2 inch end on PMT's, the PR1401 for 1 inch end on PMT's and the PR1124CE for 1 inch side on PMT's, and are supplied fully wired and ready for use. The photomultiplier tube gain required by the Option 14 Amplifier Discriminator Photomultiplier Socket Assembly is nominally 10 and since the lower level discriminator is fixed, set up is simplified to merely adjusting the high voltage to the region where the count rate is virtually independent of high voltage changes.	The pulse duration of the amplifier discriminator module is normally factory set at 30 ns. This can be adjusted by changing an internal timing capacitor to provide pulse durations from 30 ns to 1000 ns to fit specific application requirements. In addition, the amplifier discriminator module is interchangeable into any other Products for Research Option 14 photomultiplier socket assembly. For users with existing PMT socket assemblies, an external, standalone version with the same specifications as the Option 14 Amplifier Discriminator Photomultiplier Socket Assembly (see Accessories - ADP 120 Package) is also available.
