| Normally, utilizing a signal terminating resistor will convert a signal current to a voltage (V=IR). However, this will introduce a time constant which will alter the time aspect of the signal.
The Products for Research Option #35 model PSA-01 Preamplifier is useful in time-sensitive applications where the signal level (current) from the detector is too small to conveniently measure. The PSA-01 is an inverting transimpedance amplifier with externally switchable conversion gain settings (10
| Option #35 is typically integrated directly into Products for Research photomultiplier socket assemblies, minimizing the distance between the detector output (e.g. anode pin) and the preamplifier input.
For users with existing PMT socket assemblies, an external, standalone version with the same specifications as the PSA-01 (see Accessories - PSA Package) is also available.
